Ring with a Pink Moonstone – Moon Dust quantity

Description

A ring with a pink moonstone and amethyst—”Moon Dust”—is centered around a large, oval moonstone. It has a delicate pink color, but just a slight change in the angle of the light is enough to bring out blue and purple reflections. Above it, I placed a tiny amethyst that nicely complements those cooler flashes.

I crafted the entire piece by hand from 925 sterling silver using the lost-wax casting method. First, I carved the mold in jewelry wax, then created the silver casting, and finally set the stones and finished all the details.

A moonstone ring inspired by nature

This design features plenty of texture and irregularities. The silver wraps around the stone with organic lines and transitions on the sides into a more broadly sculpted band. I also left open spaces, thanks to which the piece, despite its elaborate form, doesn’t look heavy.

What I like most here is the contrast between the raw, heavily carved setting and the delicate color of the stone.

Pink moonstone and amethyst

Moonstone changes with virtually every movement of the hand. In softer light, a milky pink hue dominates, while from a different angle, a blue-violet glow appears. Inside, you can also see natural inclusions and the structure characteristic of natural stone.

Just above it sits a small amethyst in a deep purple. It’s a small detail, but it blends beautifully with the colors that appear in the moonstone.
