Silver ring with a pink tourmaline – Aurelia quantity

Description

Aurelia is a silver ring featuring a pink tourmaline set in a richly carved floral setting. The stone has an intense raspberry-pink color and a faceted surface that catches the light with every movement of the hand.

I hand-sculpted the entire ring from jewelry wax, and it was later cast in 925 sterling silver. Around the tourmaline, the silver is arranged in layers resembling irregular petals. They aren’t perfectly symmetrical; I wanted a more organic, slightly wild form rather than a classic flower.

This is definitely one of the more substantial designs. The silver alone weighs as much as 12.17 g, so the ring feels substantial and noticeable on the hand, even though the stone isn’t very large.

The pink tourmaline has natural inclusions and slight irregularities visible up close. Every stone like this is a little different, and that’s what I like most about them.
