Silver Ring with a Star Ruby – Ravena

Ravena is a silver ring featuring a large, oval star ruby in a deep plum-burgundy color. The stone has a smooth, convex surface and a natural texture visible when held up to the light.

It is precisely the way it reacts to light that makes it so fascinating. Under the right conditions, a characteristic bright glow associated with the star effect may appear on the ruby’s surface, and its color shifts from dark burgundy to cooler violet tones.

I crafted the setting from 925 sterling silver using the lost-wax casting method. The silver wraps around the stone in irregular, organic lines, and the wider, sculpted band nicely balances its substantial form.
