Elowen Silver Necklace – Moonstone and Opal

Description

I crafted the Elowen silver necklace from 925 sterling silver, natural moonstone, and Ethiopian opal. The main stone has a delicate, milky-pink hue and a blue sheen that’s best seen when you move the necklace.

Below it, I’ve hung a small Ethiopian opal. Depending on the light, it displays pink, orange, and green reflections.

I set the moonstone in silver and surrounded it with irregular, openwork twigs. I darkened part of the silver with an oxide finish to better highlight their shape and fine details.

The opal is set in an ornate, lace-like setting and suspended beneath the main element. It moves when worn and catches the light from various angles.

Elowen is smaller and more delicate than the version with labradorites, but it still has a distinctive, woodland-inspired design. The 42-cm chain positions the necklace close to the neckline, and the extension allows you to add another 3 cm.

Moonstone and opal are natural gemstones, so they may contain inclusions or minor imperfections and may appear different depending on the type of light. I finish each piece by hand, so the texture and patina of the silver may vary slightly.
