Copper Necklace with Labradorite – Fern Heart

This labradorite necklace immediately reminded me of a ray of light filtering through the leaves somewhere deep in the forest.

At the center of the setting is a natural labradorite with beautiful green-turquoise labradorization. It’s one of those stones that’s hard to capture in a photo. Sometimes it looks calm and unassuming, and a moment later it bursts into intense color when the light hits it at just the right angle.

I made the setting by hand out of copper. I cut out, shaped, and soldered each leaf and twig separately. I wanted the whole piece to look as if the stone had been found among ferns and moss, and nature itself had decided to surround it with delicate twigs.

I like jewelry that isn’t too flashy. This labradorite necklace is just like that. It catches the eye with its details and the color of the stone, but it does so in a subtle way. It doesn’t dominate an outfit; instead, it becomes part of it.

I also decorated the back of the pendant with a floral motif, so it looks interesting even when turned over. It’s a small detail, but those are the details I like best.
