Description

A silver ring with a labradorite, size 19.5, featuring an elongated teardrop-shaped stone. When held up to the light, it shimmers with shades of purple and blue, and dark, irregular lines run across its surface. I set it in a silver frame reminiscent of roots and tangled twigs.

There’s something evening-like about this labradorite. The colors are cool, subdued in places, and as you move your hand, they illuminate most of the stone. I like the moment best when the violet transitions into blue. You have to turn it around for a moment to see just how much is going on here.

Tangled silver

The setting runs around the drop, its tips overlapping the stone on several sides. At the top, the silver wraps around the narrow tip of the labradorite. Lower down, it creates an irregular frame that highlights its rounded base.

On the sides, I left openwork gaps and elongated details resembling roots. Thanks to this, the design doesn’t end at the stone itself, but continues onto the band. When viewed from the side, you can see different details than when looking straight at the ring.

The polished silver catches the light, while the darker recesses reveal the depth of the setting. I like these subtle irregularities and nooks and crannies. They complement the dark lines in the labradorite, which look a bit like a pattern of thin branches.

How does it look on the hand?

The stone measures 20.5 × 11 mm. It is slender and elongated, but the elaborate silver sides make the entire ring stand out clearly on the finger. The photos of it on the hand best show its proportions.
