Nyxara – Silver Crescent Moon Necklace with a Pink Sapphire

I crafted the Nyxara crescent moon necklace from 925 sterling silver. Its form was originally hand-carved in wax and then cast in silver. The surface of the crescent is irregular, full of indentations and fine details, which I further accentuated with an oxidized finish.

In the center, I set a natural, faceted pink sapphire. The small stone has a delicate pink hue that stands out sharply against the dark, oxidized sections of the silver.

Nyxara is part of the Moon Whisper series, inspired by the moon, the light of night, and organic forms. Compared to the more delicate Avelune, this crescent moon has a more rugged, heavily sculpted form. Its arms are irregular and end in slender, sharp tips.

I wanted to preserve the texture created while hand-carving the model in wax. After casting it in silver, the recesses were oxidized, and the raised areas were polished. This makes all the fine irregularities and details even more visible.

The pink sapphire adds a subtle pop of color in the center of the crescent. The stone’s delicate pink hue contrasts with the austere form and darker finish of the silver.

The necklace is small, so despite its striking design, it works well for everyday wear. You can wear it on its own or pair it with other silver necklaces.

I finish each piece by hand. Natural stones may vary in shade, and the patina and texture of the silver may differ slightly.
