Silver rock ring – guided by form
This silver rock ring was created without a pre-set plan. I first sculpted it in wax, relying on intuition and mindfulness, without sketches or imposed assumptions. I allowed the form to guide my hands, so every structure and crack appeared naturally. Only later did I cast the whole piece in silver.
Working with wax allowed me to preserve the ring’s raw and organic character. After casting in silver, I refined the details delicately, without forcing them smooth. As a result, the surface resembles a rock formation – heterogeneous, full of micro-details and traces of the process. These irregularities make the form look not like a product, but like a fragment of matter frozen in time.
Where it touches the skin, I smoothed the form to ensure comfortable daily wear. The expressive, sculptural surface combines with wearing comfort. On one hand, the ring retains its rawness and power; on the other, it remains gentle against the body.
Satin sheen and oxidized depth
The satin finish ensures the silver doesn’t shine ostentatiously, but reflects light softly and calmly. Oxidized sections deepen the structure, creating contrast and highlighting the relief. As a result, the silver rock ring resembles a piece of rock surface bearing traces of time and natural processes.
In the classical sense, this is not decorative jewelry. The appreciation of this form relies primarily on touch and the feel of the material, rather than on shine or ornamentation. Thus, the presence enclosed in the metal doesn’t need stones or sparkle to remain expressive and meaningful.
